A Little Curve Ball

Currently due to his condition and being in ICU, Connor is not accepting any visitors at this time.

We have been slow today to get an early update out on Connor. We had a middle of the night run to the hospital after Connor had ripped his catheter out by getting his toes wrapped around the hose while thrashing about. Once they were able to get the new catheter in place he was able to start peeing again without any traces of blood. They were worried that he potentially had done some damage which would cause a blood clot. Thankfully all was well and we could return home for a couple hours of sleep.

Upon arriving
this morning, Connor was agitated and thrashing about again. They upped his meds in order to calm him down and clean him up. He has been sleeping peacefully since then with minimal movement.

The neurosurgeon has determined
today that they are unable to put any more staples due to the size of opening. They are now discussing sutures to help close the wound.

The trauma team has been formulating a new approach to the meds to get Connor out of ICU. They are giving him more oral medication through his feeding tube and utilizing different combinations to find a solution. The key now is to reduce the IV lines which will help to get him mobile. Until then they only want to get him close to the point of agitation without going over (since they already know where that happens - turning off propofol).

For positive items: He continues to breathe on his own
today while attached to the ventilator which is only on standby when/if needed. He moved his left arm and leg - weak movements but he moved them both!

He stuck out his tongue (while sedated) following commands from nurse while she was brushing his teeth. I think she was trying to get him to stop biting the toothbrush (he hates this 4x a day process).

Thank you for your continued positive energy for Connor.
